Who We Are...

We contribute all of our success and ability to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without him we would not be where we are at today.

We are two of the most fun loving and care free people you may ever have the pleasure of knowing! Jokes are a normal part of our day and having fun while providing excellent service is what we live by. We do take our job very seriously and professionalism is a must for us but at the same time we strive to create a relaxed session that you can be yourself in. Our goal is to capture you being, well... you! Our work reflects the personalities of the people we shoot.

We are a husband and wife photography team based out of Columbus, Ohio. We are photographers in love... In love with our work, and in love with each other. What sets us apart from everyone else is that we know what love looks like. Someone once told me. "You cannot lead someone where you have not been." How can a photographer capture the love of your wedding day if they simply do not know what it is? We are unique in that we can capture true love and we can also help create moments with true love.

The wedding day is a whirlwind of excitement and emotion. You have to be able to confidently rely on your photographers because there is no time for mistakes. We promise to be those photographers that you can fully trust. We will get the shots that you want and we will also make your day that much more enjoyable. All we ask is that you will let us be a part of your amazingly amazing day!

Trip to NYC

As many of you may know we took a trip to New York City to attend a wedding photography workshop. The workshop was geared towards perfecting our ranking ability in google. It was held by the one and only Tofurious, also known as Lawrence Chan in real peoples world. Who uses real names anymore??? The experience was amazing and I took a lot away from it! We were also invited to a wedding photographers industry party that was held after the workshop and we were able to meet some amazing photographers as well as make some awesome friends. One of my favorite moments would have to be shaking some big named photogs hands without really knowing who they were until after they walked off.

Allow me to elaborate a little bit:

I was conversing with Lawrence about some SEO stuff that I had questions on when a couple approaches us and they start talking with Lawrence. They look at me and ask Lawrence, and who is this? Lawrence came back with, this is my friend Jared, he attended my workshop. I stuck out my lanky arm to shake the mans hand when suddenly for a moment time slowed down. For some reason he just really stuck out to me. The man standing in front of me had on a vintage looking biker jacket, blue jeans, and some amazing cowboy boots. These boots were no regular Joe Schmo boots. They had really intricately sown flames all over the front, and they looked like they had a few hundred miles on ‘em. In his jacket pocket he was toting around a bottle of wine. His dirty blonde hair was gelled back as if the wind had been rushing through it. I literally thought he arrived to the party riding a Harley. Time resumed as normal and he grabbed my hand saying, Hey, Im Bob! I exchanged pleasantries and his wife, who was dashingly dressed, stuck out her hand and greeted me as well saying, and Im Dawn, nice to meet you Jared. Rachel was near by so she was also introduced to the couple. After a few minutes of conversing they went on their way. After they had left Rachel came up to me and said, I had to try so hard to keep from being awe struck! I said, what do you mean? She looks at me in amazement and says, do you have any idea who that is?!?! I said, The guys name was Bob and I forget the girls name. (I am so incredibly bad at remembering names, I need to start spelling them out as soon as I hear them like Dane does.) She said, That is Bob and Dawn Davis! You know Oprah, Eva Longoria… She started naming all these famous people they had shot. Before that point in time I only knew the couple by name. I had never seen a photo of them before. They are amazing at what they do and it was a privilege to finally meet them in person.

Which leads me to this thought: I shook the hand of a guy who shook hands with Tony Parker of the Spurs… So basically, Tony and I are best friends now… (Joke) If only it worked like that :)

This is a photo of Rachel on our flight into NYC:

Over all it was a pretty amazing time. We had a rough start. My laptop crashed the day we got their. Itineraries, reservations, things to do, our connection to the outside world… GONE! So, we had to take a hike to the Apple Store and pick up another one. I also left my iPhone in a cab. I felt like I lost a part of myself!! I finally went to att yesterday and picked up another one. Other than that it was an awesome time. We were glad to get home though. There is just so much incredible energy in the city that you never actually get to wind down and relax.

Here are a few of the amazing people we had the pleasure of meeting:

Jason Groupp – NYC’s most awesome wedding photographer
John Michael Cooper – very different wedding photography
Seshu – Connecticut documentary wedding photography
Tim Dinofa – modern south NJ wedding photographer with very neat handwriting
Steven Young – amongst the most awesome NYC peeps
Willi Wong – NYC modern and lifestyle type of guy
Jason Miller – Washington DC guy but missed the DC workshop I guess
Jim Altieri – CT!
Tina Jay Photography – Philly! (and fellow Penn Stater I might add:) )
Kim Percival – just Kim (leading a double life)
Darren Squashic – fresh and fun
Ahmetze – NY and NJ awesomeness

November 13, 2009 - 11:42 am DAWN DAVIS - Hi Jared & Rachel, I left a comment when you first blogged this, but I don't see it here so maybe I did something wrong. Jason Groupp sent me to your blog to read your blog post and it brought such a huge smile to my face and made my heart sing! Thank you so much for your sweet words. It was such a pleasure to meet you both at Jason's party. I hope we get to run into each other again soon! All my best, ~ Dawn Davis

Melissa and Brandon | Married!

It was January 3rd 2009 at the Columbus Bridal show downtown. Jared and I had been invited by Sherri Wilburn to display some work for the OHS booth. We have never participated in a bridal show so this was going to be new to us. Traffic was dieing down due to the fashion show getting ready to take place. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a SUCKER for pretty dresses and lots of glitz. Pllleassse come watch with me!! I begged to Jared. After convincing him to come, we made our way to the closest section where we could lean up against a pole and watch. 5 minutes into the show this beautiful mother and her future daughter-in-law whispers over to Jared how brave he is in coming with me to the bridal show! He chuckles and began to tell them how we are photographers and we got married a little over a year ago. From there we all laughed together at new, funky styles and awed at ones that were beautiful. I knew right then and there that Melissa was a bride I really wanted to shoot. About a month later we got an email from Melissa wanting to set up a meeting. From there the rest is history.

We continued to hang out and grow closer with Melissa and Brandon and they quickly have become some of our best friends. I have been waiting very impatiently to be able to post the images of the happiest day of their lives. From laughing together at silly stories to crying together at cheesy chick flicks….I present to you…Melissa and Brandon!

Nolan in the leaves!

Fall pictures at Innis Woods is a beautiful location to take families to. The Leaves are in full foliage and the scenery is well manicured. Tori called us a while back to take Nolans three year old birthday pictures. The first day we had scheduled turned out to be a cold, gloomy, rainy day. The day that we rescheduled for was gorgeous 65 degree, cloudless day! I couldnt have asked for better weather! When we began into our session, Tori pulled out a video game, Backyardagins, and showed it to Nolan. She told Nolan that if he was good for me then he would receive his video game! What a GREAT idea! Nolan hammed it up for me like no other three year old before! I highly recommend the bribes. Its great! :-)

Here is a sneak peek of Nolans shoot:

Tania and Kevin | Married!

This beautiful Fall wedding took place at Victorious Living Christian Church in Grove City, Ohio. The vibrant colors of the leaves really made Tania’s wedding dress just POP out! She accented Kevin with a great color of Orange for his vest. The day went perfect. Tania and Kevin opted to have a “first look”. I LOVE when couples decide to meet each other before the actual wedding because it really allows for a GREAT amount of time for photos and you are getting to capture the Bride and Groom eyeing each other in awe all through out the day!  We were able to take all the wedding photos at a local park called Gantz. This park was filled with covered bridges, tree lined walking paths, creek beds, and rolling hills!

Off to New York City!

Jared and I are headed to the Big Apple! New York City is where we took our honeymoon a little over 2 years ago! Time sure does fly! Actually, I’m doing what I do best right now, which is procrastination. Our plane leaves in two and a half hours and I’m half packed, no shower, only one cup of coffee down and I’m BLOGGING!! I’m queen of rushing around at last minute scrambling drawers and bags making sure I have everything. Then, like always, I’ll forget my deodorant or tooth paste. But non of those odors are super offensive right!? Joke. I’m a wing it kinda girl and then hope for the best :-D While in NYC we are attending the Tofurious SEO workshop! Actually, Jared will be. I will be watching ‘toons in our hotel room, eatin’ donuts for 6 hours. :-D Seriously though, I’m going to try and blog at least twice while I’m there. I’m going to have oh so many images to show you Internet!! Some, I really hope to print on a huge canvas and hang above my sofa! Until next time, here is a short sneak peek of Tania and Kevin’s wedding last night. I shot these with my new 5d MarkII and I couldn’t be happier! More to come on their blog post Thursday night when we return!
