A lot comes from the month of December. Cookies, dinners, parties, more cookies and OH what do you know….MORE COOKIES!!!! For those who follow our blog you know that Jared and I hired a personal trainer (Jake) a couple of months ago. Well, Jake expects me to lose 5 pounds this month. Jake, will definitely get his 5 pounds from me. Whether it be losing or gaining. There will definitely be a 5 pounds change in me!!
Sugar. Check. Brown Sugar. Check Flour. Check. Vanilla. Check. Baking soda……as I walked away from my recipe to find my baking soda a specific memory memory popped into my head. As I pulled the memory out of my memory jail cell, I started to chuckle to myself. Let me elaborate.
The setting is my parents cozy, country decorated home. Hannah (my little sister) and I were home alone. I, about 12 and Hannah about 10. I’m hungry, she’s hungry. We decided to make ourselves some pancakes from scratch. I pulled out my moms 100+ year old Betty Crocker cookbook and found the delicious fluffy pancake recipe. As I’m follow directions I come to baking powder. I mozy my way over to the baking cabinet and pull down, what I thought was baking powder. I measure it out and throw in the recommended amount needed. Once the batter is mixed I start frying up my pancakes. Once they are done I yell for my little sister to come in and enjoy this wonderful, made with love, pancake lunch. We smothered our butter, peanut butter, bananas and syrup on them ready to feast. We both decided to try them at the same time so that we would both let out the same reaction. It was the same reaction alright!! We both turn to each other, cheeks popping out from the huge bites we has just taken with a disgusted-oh-my-gosh-kind of look. Spitting out what we had just shoved into our mouths we both let out a “this is HORRIBLE’” shriek. Turns out I had tossed in baking soda rather than baking powder. The two are definitely not similar in any way! If you haven’t made this mistake before, I recommend being very careful in NOT making it. Or, 10 years later, you’ll be telling a story like I have on your new social networking site.
Jared and I are shooting Jenny and Kyles wedding today! Its supposed to be a high of a good ‘ol 28 degrees. Days like today make me wish I lived down south. Or at least had a home down there for the winter season!
Here is a sneak peek at tomorrow’s blog post!
