The sun hit my face and I made myself to take a moment to soak up as much warm vitamin D as I possibly could. I sat still in the car and allowed my soul to be open, my mind to be free and the sun to bring me abundant happiness. Yes. I was on the coast. I was home.
Most of you dont know me personally but for those who do will be quick to tell you I have a strong passion for the East Coast. The sand between my toes, the salty air blowing my hair to that cool surfer-chick style, the warmth, the sounds, the food. Im a Southern gal at heart. We’re very blessed in having a family who live 5 miles from Wrightsville Beach. Each season we take a week or two to drop for a visit and catch up on lost beach time. A good read, my love and our beach. Nothing is better.
We just returned from a trip down there and this time it was extra cold. Like Oh-My-Gosh-my-bones-hurt- cold. But, I was bound and determined to make it to our favorite spot. We sat in the car, soaked up our warm sun and chatted about our future plans to live in Wilmington. Then it was time to get out. We bolted through the dunes trying to push against 30 mph winds and 30 degree weather. Umm. Buurrr. FINALLY, the ocean. I looked back at Jared to see if he was as equally as excited as I was. I think he was but was too frozen to show any other emotion but painful chills.
After about 5 minutes at the beach we dashed back through the dunes and sprinted to the car. Once back my mascara had completely run down my entire face. What a sight I was!!
We ended the afternoon at a wonderful seafood restaurant that over looked the ocean. I was completely content in that moment. Sun, the water and my Jared. Here, is my second home.![]()
