Life is one of those crazy adventures. The adventure you try to plan an itinerary for but rarely, if at all, works out. We take each day planning for the next and each month planning for the year. But what happens when a special and life changing event happens and all your hard work of planning flies right out of the car window driving 100 mph?

We start over….

Jared and I have experienced MANY life altering events within the last few months and one thing Im slowly beginning to learn is this….

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

This verse has been my comfort over these past few months. It reminds me that I can plan my life for which ever way I want, but ultimately there is One who’s will for me is better.

I hope you can find comfort in this as well as you go along this life’s journey with me.

Julie and Shea | Engagement

Jared and I had the sweet opportunity to photograph Julie and Shea’s engagement session in Granville, Ohio around Denison University! Talk about another universe!!!! We arrived to the location to find beautiful rolling hills, peaceful towns folk and an abundance in small town joy. I was in love!! After the shoot we had a great time getting to know Julie and Shea over some drinks and pizza at the local downtown restaurant!

Fancy Schmancy

You know that old saying that goes something like “less is more…”? Well, when it comes to fancy dresses, more is BETTER!! At least this is MY opinion. I’m an over the top kind of girl. I like a lot of more than enough. You can’t have too many shoes, there can always -and I do mean always- be more glitter. Who cares if you’re almost 30 years old. Sport it.

I was staying super busy with work, emails, phone calls, cooking and cleaning and meetings with the president when I stumbled across a few inspiring images off of Pinterest!!!

Ashley and Joe | Engaged

When Ashley and Joe first walked into that small Starbucks off the freeway I instantly knew there would be a connection between us. Wow. All I can say is what a super gorgeous looking couple!! Then I got to know them a bit more through random chatting and just as I suspected, their personalities trumped their beauty. They are some well rounded folks, people!!

We had a blast at their engagement session this past week. We started out at Highbanks park and then moved over to the Powell Village Winery! Thank you so much Jeff and Gina for allowing us to come in on your day off! We had a great time and cannot wait to purchase A LOT of wine from you guys! We sampled a few types here and there and Ashley and Joe bought me a very yummy bottle of Chardonnay! Ive been enjoying it every night since…

Color Love: Teal+Mint

Im sure everyone has seen the CRAZY amount of mint colored crops on Pinterest lately. Well, call me crazy but my new color obsessions lately are teal and mint! I love the joy and happiness it instantly brings to my eyeballs!

Last fall my SIS and I painted my living room accent wall teal! I was a bit hesitant at first because it was SO. BOLD. If you hear it from her, I was huddled into the nearest corner having a psychotic break down sucking my thumb. So maybe I did….But I love the decision of bringing a BRIGHT pop of color into my daily life. I put together an inspiration board this afternoon of some teal and mint. I think they’re gorgeous wedding colors for this spring and summer!

Our angel, Ben

My heart is broken this morning, and yet my heart is peaceful. Its a strange arrangement of emotions that are hard to organize. We lost our dear Ben this morning to his battle with cancer. My heart is broken for his new bride, Dawn. My heart is broken for his two children, Hayley and Garrett. My heart is broken for his parents and our families who are mourning his departure with Earth.

But my heart is at peace.

It is at peace in knowing the joy he is having, the celebration he is apart of, the beauty he is seeing and the dancing and praising that he is doing right now in Heaven. Ben was STRONG in his faith and we find comfort in knowing that he is hand in hand with our Lord Jesus. His family and friends will miss him dearly but my dear friends, this isn’t the end for Ben, it is only the beginning. And right now…he is PAIN FREE!!!! Thank you, Jesus!!!!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
