It was a gorgeous day. We hopped in the car around 11 am and headed southeast. The sun was partly shining, the air was sort of muggy, but I was happy. Happy it wasn’t RAINING. Even though the forecast called for an 80% chance of the darn stuff. Ever notice how most of my blog posts stat out with the weather update? I’m a bit weather obsessed I guess!

We drove through the beautiful mountains of southern Ohio until we reached the little town of Marietta. We had an hour to kill before starting our day so we decided to poke around and look for inspiring places to shoot. We found ourselves driving up steep roads to see what was at the top. One road in particular was incredibly steep. Like the kind of steep where you thank the good Lord above you don’t have to drive on it in the icy winter. The anticipation was exceeding its peek when I looked over to Jared and said “I bet this will be amazing up here!!!!”Climbing….climbing….Ohhhhh….there is trash, EVERY WHERE. Scrap metal EVERY WHERE! We turned to each other and let out the biggest laughs. Super amazing we giggled with one another sarcastically. We quickly turned around and headed back down the hill.

Then we found Marietta College. It was a whole new world (as I bust out in Aladdin’s A Whole new World theme song….) like literally…it was gorgeous!! Beautiful mature trees, manicured lawns and perfect landscape. It was a beautiful place to shoot.

We headed to the church to start the festivities. I found the gorgeous bride and her fabulous gals and Jared headed off to meet the boys. The timeline of the day was simple, easy and fun and very little stress. Jennifer was the calmest bride I had ever seen!! She was excited and joyful to be marrying her best friend…..Scott…..

Colin | 9 month

This little boy, Colin, and his wonderful parents share a special place in my heart. Ive known Colin before he was born. I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot Sami and James’ maternity pictures. Then followed with Colin’s newborn, 3 mo and now 9 mo. I cant wait til this little guy turns a year old and we can get some good ole fashion cake smashin’!

We pulled the car into the over-grown, hadn’t-been-used-in-a-while parking lot. Getting out of the car with a tad bit of creepiness sitting in my belly I looked up at the 5 story old school house. Most of the windows had been knocked out by either weather or vandalism. We slowly walked around the yard watching our step for any sharp foreign objects. I glanced around the side in time to see a enormous black crow fly to the very top of the building. How appropriate, I thought. I turned to Jared with the look of excitement in my eyes….ITS PERFECT!! We met Lauren and Brian up at our new shooting location this past week. We had so much fun talking about wedding plans, house plans and poor Brian’s collapsed lung! Their wedding is so close and I’m looking forward to shoot them very much!

Get it girl, get it get it giirrrrll!

Jen and Andy | Engaged

Jen was so cute! She emailed me a couple months back inquiring for a date that we are already booked for. A few weeks later she wrote back to me saying they changed their date! YAY! We were available!! We quickly set up a meeting and I instantly clicked with Jen. What a fun, smart and cute gal! We first started out at Graeters Ice Cream in Westerville and then moved out to Jareds Grandpas land. Jen and Andy were super fun to work with and I cant WAIT for their wedding!

Mattie and Tony | Engaged

Pulling up the drive way we stopped behind a giant Ford truck. Mattie and Tony got out and I was awe struck by Mattie’s beauty. Then came her personality. Beauty, fun, perky and bubbly! Yes, I thought, we’ll get along juuuust fine!! We began our trip up the narrow drive, avoiding pot holes and very VERY narrow bridges. We began at the side of the scum covered pond. My Father in law still questions why I like to shoot back here. The images speak for themselves. Tall grass, dirt roads, falling down houses…what more could I ask for?

Mattie and Tony’s love shines through them. Being away from each other for 15 months while Mattie was attending ASU and Tony was deployed in Iraq they’ve been itching just to be able to laugh together and hold each other in their arms. These two were a treat to get to know and I cant wait for the developing friendship this has become.

Tara and Mike | Wedding

The date was 2000. I had made my first year of Cheerleading and was at my first day of summer camp. This was when I first met Tara. I arrived super early in the morning, fog layering the field and a brisk wind had picked up. I saw a group of spunky high school girls already stretching and preparing to drive us middle school gals into the ground. Some were showing off their new tumbling routines and some were gathered into a little clique gossiping about the latest break up and make up.

Tara was different. She was always really nice and always super up beat. She helped us with our jumps, kicks and tumbles. Never did I think this beautiful, kind, cheerleader was going to be a dear friend and a perfect bride of mine.

I met Mike at our first consultation. You could see the chemistry he and Tara had. The way they held hands as we talked, the way they looked at each other with caring smiles and the way he confessed Tara had changed his life for the better.

Brittney and Nick | Engagements

Brittney and Nick were such a fun couple to shoot. We had a beautiful warm day after a couple days of rain and chilly temperatures. The two drove all the way in from Dayton, Ohio so even though the ground was a little moist, we made it work. Brittney and Nick were up for anything though. As we were shooting and chatting we discovered a love that we both shared, going out to eat. Oh boy, I love me so good cookin’. Especially if someone is there to clean it all up for me when Im finished. Thank you for giving me some great laughs and a good time at the shoot you two.

Stacy and Trent | Simon Kenton Inn

Stacy and Trent have such a beautiful relationship and I could see it clearly from the first time we met them. Trent is completely head over heels for Stacy and has no problem showing his love and affection towards her! Their wedding took place at the Simon Kenton Inn on a BEAUTIFUL September day. No one could have asked for nicer weather then what we received! I had the hardest time preparing this blog due to an over amount of fantastic portraits!
