When I first got the email from Nicole we instantly had a connection. You see, Nicole is a dear friend of a dear Jacobus bride! Nic was a bridesmaid in the wedding we shot for Brittney and Nick last year! Nicole was very determined to have us as her photographers and I couldn’t be more excited to shoot her and Ron’s wedding!

We met downtown and started aroundBuggyworks. Then we decided to just take a walk and pop into places wherever I saw good light! Well, that seemed to be all over that day! We had so much fun talking about wedding stuff and favorite TV shows and just really getting to know Ron and Nicole more on a personal level. Im so in love with their wedding date 11-11-11!! How cool to have that as your anniversary!!

Ah! Hello my sweet peeps! If you know me, you know I get VERY excited over the littlest things. Like, not just a liittttle excited. Like, plug-your-ears-because-I-tend-to-get-a-little-loud excited! Well… Im here to tell you about my most recent discovery and about my absolute newest favorite hang out spot. Its a little chocolate boutique located in uptown Westerville! Holy Schmoley. I walked in and instantly my inner female started doing the most outrageous version of Jazzercise you could think of. Yup, just call it the Judi Sheppard Missett feeling. THAT GOOD! What is the name of this amazing boutique you ask? Chocolaterie Stam and they are located at 79 South State Street. I met one of the owners, Anna, who is one of the nicest business owners Ive met. That’s why I completely LOVE supporting small businesses, the service is always FANTASTIC!

Anna so graciously supplied us with a 16 piece box of decadent chocolates to give away as a prize for our giveaway! How awesome!! Jared and I also purchased a few chocolates to eat on the way home. I got the dark chocolate amaretto and the dark chocolate coconut. Both of them were knee buckling good! Jared got the dark chocolate mint and the milk chocolate Irish coffee cream and he of course loved his as well!

The neat part of Chocolaterie Stam is that they also offer favors for your wedding! They can print your name and date on the little chocolates to bring the little candies into theme. And what wedding guest WOULDN’T like an edible favor???

Jesse and Joanna | Engagement

These two, OHH these two, I love them so much. Jesse and Joanna are some of the coolest peeps I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing and being related to. I remember the first time I met Joanna. Jared and I weren’t married yet but we took a vacation down to his Uncle’s house in Wilmington, NC. She walked in with a graceful messy style. I remember thinking she fit perfect into the image I created of what a beached southern gal would look like. Wind blown blonde hair, navy blue and white striped shirt and a pair of khakis. Straight out of J.Crew. Over the years and over many trips back down to what I refer to as my “home” I got to know Joanna more and more. Then I met Jesse. Jesse was sweet, classy, well spoken and full of ambition, and he loved Joanna. You could see it in how he looked at her, how he respected her and the way he displayed his public affection. I was in love with their love.

A few years down the road they stand in the midst of planning their Southern Vintage wedding. I couldn’t be more excited to kick off the year with an eclectic Southern wedding. The details will be absolutely amazing thanks to their planners!!

Franklin Park Conservatory | Family

The day of the Rovai shoot we were expected to receive 2 inches of snow. Being that we were shooting a family with two little twin boys we opted to shoot at the Franklin Park Conservatory downtown Columbus, Ohio. There are so many fun options here and so many different climates! I loved working with this family! Colton and Nolan, age 2 1/2, were so good!! Kids can be difficult to work with sometimes and I was so proud of these two. They were so much fun and gave great hugs and kisses )

What a beautiful day for a wedding. Slightly cool temps and sunshine. Just my kind of day!! This wedding day was a little different…no, A LOT different than the rest. This wedding day I was on my own. I had to load up the car, inspire myself and make sure I was on time. Mainly because my handsome man was a groomsmen in the wedding and he had left about 6:30am to go golfing with the other dudes. With Jared being mainly apart of the wedding party I was in charge of getting all the pictures myself. Which was absolutely fun. Typically, Jared is shooting the guys while Im shooting the girls. But it was nice getting to know everyone on a friendly basis!

I walked into the church and began my search for the bride. Found her. She was in the middle of getting her hair and make up done and was as excited as could be. I said my hellos, snapped a few shots, then moved on to find the guys. As I walked into the room they were all hiding in I caught them in an intense game of Uno. Yes, Uno. It was wonderful. I geared them up and took the boys outside for some snap shots. Then moved onto the girls. The wedding day flowed so easy and wonderfully. I have to say it was one of the most laid back weddings I’d ever been too. Which in turn kept me laid back. Which is exactly how I love shooting.

Nicole and Brian | Married!

It was meant to be. Im a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Nothing by coincidence. That’s how I feel about my relationship with Nicole and Brian. As we instantly connected at the very first meeting I knew I was going to have so much fun with these two. With both of them being super laid back and extremely in love I knew I was going to have the couple of a lifetime.

9-25-10. I woke up differently that morning. I woke up with a skip in my step, smile on my face and the energy of an energizer bunny. I KNEW it was going to be a good day I could just feel it. I spent my morning praying, pumping myself full of inspiration and plain oatmeal. I was ready. Ready to photograph the wedding of Brian Heminger and Nicole Monaco!

Jaaci and Matt | Wedding!

I woke up different that morning. I was refreshed. Energized. Excited. FEARLESS! It was the morning after I had just written my epic post about getting over some of my fears. I was ready to take on anything. Jared and I prepared our minds and reached deep down into our creative thinking. I surrounded myself with some of my favorite artists, turned on my energizing techno and began sipping away at the largest coffee mug ever. We gathered our gear up the night before so everything was ready to toss into our car at the last second. Jaaci and Matt’s wedding took place in Defiance, Ohio which was about 2 hours and 45 minutes away from our little home. I was excited to to be able to spend a nice long car ride with Jared with nothing to bother us-except maybe the officer who pulled us over for speeding, but that’s neither here nor there. I thought about how I want to be different. In my business and my personal life. I came up with some pretty awesome stuff and I’m super excited to be applying it starting this week! But, that’s a whole other blog post. I met Jaaci through her sister Tori! I shot their family pictures last fall and what an adorable family!

We arrived at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, saw we had some extra time and decided to grab a quick bite to eat at Subway! I couldn’t have asked for a better day to be shooting. The sun was out with warm soothing heat that brushed across your face and Vitamin D was hittin’ ya where ya needed it! I loved everything about this day and Ive been very excited to get these pictures up for a sneak peek!

Ashleigh Ignelzi | Sports Reporter and MUA!

When I first met Ashleigh on March 20th 2010 I knew right away we’d be great friends. She was like coming in contact with a great bottle of champagne. Bubbly, Sparkly and Elegant. Ashleigh was doing the makeup of one of my brides, Tara. We chatted it up about some makeup tips, sports and her background. Ashleigh is an avid sports lover and a pretty darn good sports reported. She has a pretty sweet blog, The Foxy Frenzy, where she does lots of weekly updates! If you love sports, you reaalllly need to check her out!!

Ash and I contacted each other a month later when Ashleigh really wanted to get some updated head shots! I was beyond thrilled to work with her again and I knew right away her pre-camera experience would a breeze to work with! “I just trigger my inner-Beyonce” said Ashleigh. And let me tell ya, this girl knows how to WORK IT!

Ashleigh’s Bio:

” A native of Columbus, Ashleigh graduated from Otterbein College and started her career with the Ohio News Network as a host and reporter on the Average Joe Sports Show. Currently, Ashleigh works as a remoter reporter for ESPN the Magazine, she covers professional sports in Ohio , including the Cleveland Cavaliers, the NFL, MLB. This season Ashleigh joined the Columbus Crew as their online video host. In addition to her work with ESPN the Magazine and the Columbus Crew, Ashleigh serves as an online video reporter with ColumbusWired.net, where she provides coverage of the Columbus Blue Jackets, professional golf, and Ohio State football.
In addition to her reporting Ashleigh, has a love for cosmetics on top of years of experience in makeup artistry for special events and more importantly wedding makeup. Although the combination of a makeup loving, sports reporter is a rare one, it has presented Ashleigh with many wonderful opportunities to display her skills on the wives of very talented athletes.
One would guess a sports crazed, sports reporter would have an inner tomboy? Certainly, not the case. Ashleigh claims to have the World’s largest nail polish collection!

Anne and Jeff | Wedding

Anne and Jeff were so wonderful to get to know. Their both laid back personalities and fun friends made the day go by so fast. We enjoyed meeting their family and cant wait to work with them again in the future. Anne and Jeff’s wedding took place at the Ohio State house in Columbus Ohio. The ceremony was beautifully decorated and the reception, held just a few steps away, was decorated so very elegant. Later on in the reception Brutus the Buckeye made an appearance and dance with everyone for about an hour. What a cool surprise if you’re a Buckeye fan!

Jen was so cute! She emailed me a couple months back inquiring for a date that we are already booked for. A few weeks later she wrote back to me saying they changed their date! YAY! We were available!! We quickly set up a meeting and I instantly clicked with Jen. What a fun, smart and cute gal! We first started out at Graeters Ice Cream in Westerville and then moved out to Jareds Grandpas land. Jen and Andy were super fun to work with and I cant WAIT for their wedding!

Holly and Ryan | Engaged

We parked the car. Gathered up the equiptment and headed towards our meeting spot. I saw Holly by their car waving at me from a distance. I was super excited about their engagement shoot because getting to see their personalities at Rachel and Stephens wedding we were just going to feed off of each others dork energy! And so we did. We began the session laughing and joking and carrying on. We started off in Goodale park for some pretty classic shots. Then we made our way to the Short North area where we stopped and window shopped, grabbed a couple cupcakes, and then later a few beers. I loved working with Holly and Ryan and cant WAIT for their November 6th wedding this year!

What a blessed life we have. God has given us such a wonderful gift to be able to capture such special moments for people. I love my job and wouldn’t have asked for anything better. Even though weddings and engagements are the specialty of the Jacobus Duo, we often have the privilege to photograph families, children, maternity sessions and yes…even pets.
