I was a little girl alone in my little world who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees, and fed my houseguests bark and leaves, and laughed in my pretty bed of green.

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.

Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I’m supposed to be.
The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep.

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree.
I had a dream.

Now I’m old and feeling grey. I don’t know what’s left to say about this life I’m willing to leave.
I lived it full and I lived it well, there’s many tales I’ve lived to tell. I’m ready now, I’m ready now, I’m ready now to fly from the highest wing.

Lauren and Bryan | Married Part 1

It was a scorching hot day. Muggy day. A day where you don’t want to smell your dog after he’d been hit by a skunk. Well, the day we met Lauren and Bryan was THAT day. Our meeting took place on the back patio of our porch. The lemonade was poured and the hummus was ready to be devoured. My dog, only two nights before, had been sprayed by a skunk-worst night of my life. The beautiful couple came in, had a beverage with us and no one ate the hummus but me. You see, I was on a Greek food kick. I ate Gyros 3 times a week at the little hole in the wall up the road while our house was being constructed. Anyways, we got chatting with this devine couple and learned from watching them and their actions that they were truly in love. I couldn’t count how many time I’d catch Bryan just watching Lauren with a giant smile. Or when Lauren was playfully tease with Bryan. It something called love, and they had it!

When we shot their engagements it was such an awesome time to get to know the two. Bryan was just recovering from a collapsed lung! Poor guy! I tried to be careful with my crazy scenarios after that.

Lauren and Bryan are not only building and constructing a relationship together, but building and reconstructing their first home together. From experience, renovating your first home with your newlywed is a great way of building up a relationship. You’ve got excitement, joy, decisions to make TOGETHER, frustration, trial runs, errors, reconstructions, failures and success. But getting through all this will make your stronger, lover deeper, and appreciate harder.

Okay so enough deep lovey dovey, I just had to get it out because, well, that’s me! Poor Jared right?!? Any who, you might be wondering why this post says PART 1! Well, to better explain it…its in 2 parts! This is what happens when you get me shooting a BEAUTIFUL outdoor wedding, irresistible light, a Bride and Groom willing to do ANYTHING for pictures, details GALORE and a fan-freakin-tastic bridal party who laughs at my jokes. Seriously, they laughed at me, or should I say with me! Doesn’t matter, I made them laugh.

The ceremony took place at the Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club in Sunbury, Ohio

Jaaci and Matt | Wedding!

I woke up different that morning. I was refreshed. Energized. Excited. FEARLESS! It was the morning after I had just written my epic post about getting over some of my fears. I was ready to take on anything. Jared and I prepared our minds and reached deep down into our creative thinking. I surrounded myself with some of my favorite artists, turned on my energizing techno and began sipping away at the largest coffee mug ever. We gathered our gear up the night before so everything was ready to toss into our car at the last second. Jaaci and Matt’s wedding took place in Defiance, Ohio which was about 2 hours and 45 minutes away from our little home. I was excited to to be able to spend a nice long car ride with Jared with nothing to bother us-except maybe the officer who pulled us over for speeding, but that’s neither here nor there. I thought about how I want to be different. In my business and my personal life. I came up with some pretty awesome stuff and I’m super excited to be applying it starting this week! But, that’s a whole other blog post. I met Jaaci through her sister Tori! I shot their family pictures last fall and what an adorable family!

We arrived at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, saw we had some extra time and decided to grab a quick bite to eat at Subway! I couldn’t have asked for a better day to be shooting. The sun was out with warm soothing heat that brushed across your face and Vitamin D was hittin’ ya where ya needed it! I loved everything about this day and Ive been very excited to get these pictures up for a sneak peek!

Star-Gazing

Yesterday was different. After posting my previous blog post I went into my day with a new attitude. A new ME. I walked around with a smile on my face and said hi to strangers. I showed affection to my husband in front of others. No, Internet, I didnt full on make-out with my hubby like a love sick teenager. We held hands. Poked noses and just plain giggled with each other. Life is too short not to show the ones you love that they come first. Always.

The car ride home was even different. Our wedding was 3 hours away from our home so we had a bit of a drive to think and talk. We got to a certain part in our trip where we had no cell phone service, no lights around ANYWHERE. Internet, we were in the plain back road COUNTRY! I paused from our conversation to gaze out my window. The blanket of stars were astonishing! I wish we could just pull over and star gaze with each other , I casually mentioned. See my last post, I said I was going to do that! Jared quickly pulled over on the side of the road and just stopped. I looked at him with an excited and confused face. We JUST DID IT. He opened the sun-roof and I stood on my warm leather seats to take a better look at the sky. Wow. I have never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life. Never have I been able to see SO many stars in the sky.

We decided, Hey we’re already stopped. Lets get out and take a picture!! So we did.

We set up our tripod, secured the camera and pointed straight up. Now, Im not a professional at taking pictures of stars but I think my very first shot was a money maker! I set the settings I thought would capture it best and clicked the shutter. 30 second shutter felt like it was quite a long time. Especially standing on the side of the road next to a cemetery. I leaned into Jared for some warmth while we stood there quietly and patiently just letting life happen. And we enjoyed it. Together.

Life is too short. Stop and take pictures of your memories!

Paralyzed in fear

Fear. My biggest fear is FEAR! Ive been to a dark place these past few weeks and I refuse to go back. No longer am I holding onto anything that I am afraid of. I will look fear into its deep, dark, paralyzing eyes and tell it that MY GOD IS BIGGER THAN YOU! I’m done. I’m DONE! I cant feel like this any longer.

I woke up today from enduring an agonizing yesterday of hurt, rejection and depression. Like it was out of a movie, it was raining on a dark day for me. I sat to myself thinking, praying, considering, re-evaluating, deciding, re-deciding, and failing. My list of dreams, achievements I want for myself and life-time goals were floating around in my head. With everything great that came, fear over-lapped it. Telling me, YOU ARENT GOOD ENOUGH and HA! You think you can be like THAT person, FORGET IT! They out work you and out love you by 1000 times!! I fought and fought and fought with this fear inside of my head. Trying multiple times I asked it to stop. Too politely obviously. It still came back. It never left me alone for one moment of my day. Or in the past several weeks, but yesterday was the bottom. And the end.

This morning I sat behind my desk writing out my list of fears. Dear Internet, one of my fears is allowing people to see into me too clearly. To find something out about me that makes me not as cheerful and bubbly as I come across. I’m afraid of sharing MY personal feelings. But today that ends. I will be laying out my list of fears for everyone to read and to see. To see into me more clearly and get to know me so beyond my confident front.

Here goes nothing….

Looking dumb
Wasting my time, and others time
What people say about me. Is it positive or negative?
Discouraging comments. I don’t try a lot of new things because, OH MY what if this person, who I barely know, doesn’t like it? That’s changing.
Disapproval from the ones I admire and look up to
Working hard and not making it to my standards of success
Not having money to allow me to make it to my standards of success
Debt. I hate owing anything to anyone. I’m in a lot of it. Not just money, but to people who have extended their greatness and love to me.
Taking bad pictures. That’s right. There is a little voice constantly inside my head telling me “that wasn’t good enough, try again”
Not performing my best. Some days I just don’t feel like being upbeat. I’m afraid my clients will be able to tell.
Losing my creativity. I focus too much on a clients standard check list. Aren’t I hired for my creativity???
Making the wrong decision. Letting go of my fear, taking a risk, and it not working out.
Losing everything. Everything we’ve worked hard at building up. One day it could all be for nothing.
Not being the “salesman” business standards ask of you. I couldn’t sell fire to a freezing Eskimo if I had to.
Letting go some of my work flow to better myself in other areas. I’m a micro-manager and that has to STOP!
Sticking behind my prices. So many people try to talk you down on cost, cut your confidence and point out why they wont pay that kind of money. I fall into a place of believing them. That stops NOW.
Feeling like I’m worth something. I’m different. I know that. I can offer a personality and service that no one else can. But Im afraid to express that to its fullness.
Being alone. Literally, being alone. I cant stand it.
Un-happy clients. I work beyond my capabilities to make someone happy. People tugging at me all directions. One person gets left un-happy and it haunts me.
Unanswered emails. I often get told “thanks for the quick reply!” because my email app on my i-Phone rules me. I hear it ding and like a trained animail, I jump to answer. It has me working all hours of the night. Scheduled time for answering emails starts NOW. All client emails will and should be answered in a 24 hour time frame.
Not being available 24/7 for someone who needs me. I love being there for others. Taking time for myself is hard when someone else is in need of an ear or a hand.
Giving up comfort for a risk.
Giving up a good thing for a possibility at a GREAT thing.
Losing love and fun.
Being worn out, grumpy and unhappy
To be confident in myself. Proud of myself.
Of sharing my deepest desires and wants.
Of opening my mind, thoughts and crazy dreams to anyone but my husband (kind of can check this one off due to this blog post)
Investing. Or so they call it. So much money wasted on workshops that were a waste of time. (See above fear of wasting time as well)
Flying. I HATE FLYING. I die a little inside every time I fly.
Regretting my inability to due greatness and over-come fears when I’m older. I don’t want to be 70 and thinking “What if I would have just LET GO!!!”

It took me only 25 minutes to think of this many fears I have circling my mind in my everyday life. I’m sick of the brick wall standing in my way to be something great. I wrote down all of these fears in my journal and will have a burning ceremony this evening to letting them all go. NO LONGER will I hold back when I have something crazy I want to do. I will love deeper, fight stronger and kick fear right where it counts. I will travel, discover, accomplish and be crazy. I will lay in tall grass with my love by my side counting stars. I will try new business ideas and if they fail. SO WHAT? Other people think I’m crazy? SO STINKIN’ WHAT? I will make decisions that might be wrong. But, you never know until you try.

LET GO of whatever is holding you back from being something great. Dont let someone tell you that you CANT do something. Life is too short to be cut down and scared of what others think. Most importantly. Life is too short not to LOVE unconditionally and to not offer an unending forgiveness. I challenge you to make a list of your own fears. Share them. Create a plan to destroy them and BURN THEM! Go out and do something great for someone today.

Courtney and Keith | Married

Blue skies. A perfect 5 mph breeze and sunshine. The morning of July 3rd I woke up and peeked out my faux wood blinds to see a glimpse into the days morning. I slipped my cold toes into my fuzzy slippers and made my way into the kitchen. My mind is racing with inspiration as the loud noise of the coffee bean grinders chops away at my fresh beans. I hit “brew” and moseyed my way into the office. I plumped my rear into my over sized leather chair and allowed myself to fully wake up. I hit up my favorite photographers of ALL TIME for daily inspiration and ideas. It was go time!

The clear morning skies carried into the afternoon. We arrived at the hotel where Courtney would be putting the final touches of her makeup on. We had attended the rehearsal dinner the night before and got to know everyones wonderful personalities. It made the wedding day a graceful breeze as I was able to call up everyone by name. I walked into the room and said my hellos to all the gals. Everyone was giddy with excitement. Courtney’s makeup was flawless and she was ready to start!!

Courtney and Keith decided to meet before the ceremony to get all the pictures done. I have to say that I completely love Courtney and Keith for allowing 2 hours for all the pictures before hand. This made the day go super smooth and nothing was rushed! The two meeting each other was super special. Keith had his back turned towards Courtney and I gave Courtney the freedom to walk on up to Keith and tell him when to turn around. I love watching the brides reaction as she prepares to call out her husbands name to see her for the first time. Its one of my most favorite parts of the day.

Everything that day couldnt have been more perfect. I loved Courtney and Keith, both their families and the bridal party. You guys were great and I cant wait to work with you again in the future!!!
